Sometimes the biggest leap an artist can make is not changing who they are, but fully committing to the sound they have always hinted at. That is exactly what happened when I pressed play on Medicine, the latest release from Edinburgh indie rock band Eyes of Home.
As an independent artist discovery through Groover, this track immediately stood out for its confidence. There is no slow introduction or cautious build. From the opening moments, pounding drums and driving guitars establish exactly what this band wants to say. It feels bold, ambitious and completely comfortable in its own identity.
Medicine is the first single taken from the band’s upcoming five track EP When Nobody’s Home. Following support from BBC Scotland, including airplay on BBC Introducing and inclusion on the BBC Introducing Mixtape, it’s easy to understand why Eyes of Home are beginning to attract serious attention. There is genuine momentum building behind this release.

One of the things I admire most about Medicine is how naturally it balances intensity with emotion. On the surface, it delivers everything you would hope for from modern indie rock. Big guitars, powerful drums and huge choruses all combine to create an exciting listening experience. Dig a little deeper though and there is far more going on beneath the surface.
Lyrically, the song explores the quiet sacrifices people make for those they love. Rather than relying on obvious storytelling, the band leaves enough space for listeners to connect their own experiences to the music. That combination of emotional honesty and musical energy gives the song far greater replay value than simply relying on volume alone.
From a songwriting perspective, the arrangement continually evolves without ever feeling complicated. Small rhythmic changes between verses keep the track moving forward, while the introduction of melodic guitar lines and later triplet patterns prevent any section from becoming predictable. The halftime breakdown is particularly effective. It creates a genuine moment of release before the final section crashes back with renewed energy.

Most importantly, Medicine feels like a band that has stopped second guessing itself. There is confidence throughout every decision, from the arrangement to the production, and listeners respond to that kind of belief. You can hear a band discovering exactly who they are.

As someone who listens to hundreds of independent artists through Groover, certain records make me stop what I’m doing and pay attention. Medicine was one of those tracks.
It demonstrates something I encourage artists to pursue constantly. Growth does not always mean reinventing your sound. Often it comes from refining your strengths until they become impossible to ignore. Eyes of Home haven’t abandoned their identity. They’ve sharpened it.
The confidence throughout this release is contagious. Every musical decision feels intentional and every section serves the song. That’s often what separates good releases from memorable ones.
I also appreciate the emotional restraint within the writing. The themes of sacrifice, conflict and love are significant, yet they are presented with honesty rather than unnecessary drama. That makes the song far more relatable and ultimately more powerful.
For listeners looking for emerging music that combines thoughtful songwriting with arena sized indie rock energy, this is absolutely worth adding to your playlist.

There is a noticeable sense of artistic growth throughout every aspect of the production, from the songwriting and arrangement through to the performances and final mix. More importantly, it feels authentic. Nothing here sounds like the band chasing trends. Instead, it sounds like musicians becoming increasingly confident in their own voice.
