About The Artist
Every so often a new music discovery lands in my inbox that immediately feels special. Independent artist Tia Gostelow has created something truly moving with Always in its Low Lights Version and it stood out the moment it began to play. There is a calm and gentle warmth running through this recording that makes you stop, listen and reconnect with the emotional heart of music. As someone who spends a lot of time exploring emerging music through platforms like Groover, this track felt like a reminder of how powerful simplicity can be when an artist knows how to express vulnerability with intention.
What drew me in first was the sense of honesty. Tia has this beautifully soft yet assured presence in her voice that carries emotion with a purity that cannot be taught. It invites you in and holds your attention without ever pushing for it. This is exactly the kind of artistry I love featuring on bemusi.com because it reflects what makes independent artists so compelling. There is character, identity and a personal truth that shines through every second of the track.
Always (Low Lights Version) also represents a creative moment for Tia that deserves spotlighting. With her relocating from Australia to London and stepping into a new reflective era of her artistry, the timing of this release feels significant. It arrives with a sense of transition and growth that only makes the music feel more meaningful.
Track Spotlight
This new version of Always captures Tia at her most intimate. The vocals feel close and heartfelt, supported by warm acoustic textures and a gentle instrumental palette that gives the song room to breathe. Produced by long-time collaborator Matthew McGuffie in his Camden bedroom, the track began with just acoustic guitar before gradually unfolding into a beautiful blend of piano, strings, bass and carefully layered harmonies.
The songwriting shines through in a very natural way. Nothing feels rushed or over-shaped. Every element appears only when it needs to. The guitar carries a peaceful suspended feel, the harmonies soften the space around the lead vocal, and the production maintains a sense of quiet clarity that makes the emotion of the song feel even more direct.
What makes this version particularly powerful is the way Tia expresses the idea of distance and connection. Although the song operates as a love song, she describes it as something universal. A feeling of holding on to the people you care about even when far away. With her recent move to England, that sentiment has taken on new meaning. You can hear that lived emotion in her delivery. It feels grounded, reflective and full of heart.
This track is also the beginning of Tia’s Low Lights series which will continue into 2026. It marks a new chapter for her and shows her evolving into a more stripped back, artist driven space that foregrounds storytelling and emotional clarity.

Who is Tia?
Tia Gostelow is a London based Australian indie pop artist whose career has been defined by growth, reinvention and a strong connection to her creative instincts. She first emerged at sixteen with her debut single State of Art which won Triple J’s Unearthed High Indigenous Initiative and positioned her as a young artist to watch. Her debut album Thick Skin went GOLD and produced the PLATINUM single Strangers earning Album of the Year at the Queensland Music Awards.
Her second album CHRYSALIS explored a fresh disco pop direction and reached the top of the AIR charts. In 2023 her third record Head Noise embraced the emotional turbulence of youth with dreamy vocals and vibrant hooks and reached number four on the AIR charts. With each project she has shown the ability to evolve her sound while keeping her songwriting identity firmly at the centre.
Over the past two years she has built significant momentum. She released a single every month throughout 2024, performed internationally at Reeperbahn, supported The Last Dinner Party and played major Australian events including Vivid Sydney and the Australian Open. In 2025 she relocated to London, performed at The Great Escape and began writing her fourth studio album. With a warm voice that carries both strength and tenderness, Tia has earned praise as one of Australia’s most consistently impressive pop songwriters and a genuine creative force.

My Curator Notes
Every now and then a track arrives that pulls you out of analysis mode and places you back in the mindset of simply being a listener. Always (Low Lights Version) did exactly that. It has a rare quality where nothing feels forced and everything feels intentional. The harmonies, the vocal richness, the emotional clarity, and the understated supporting parts all work together in a way that feels completely genuine. This is the kind of independent artist release that reminds me why new music discovery matters.
From a songwriting perspective this track shows real craft. The melody becomes familiar almost instantly yet avoids predictable shapes. The arrangement moves with a natural flow that makes you forget about structure entirely and simply follow the feeling. Every time I listened I noticed some new detail, yet the ease of the track never changed. That balance is something many emerging artists aim for but only a few manage to achieve.
The production supports the emotion beautifully. The vocal sits close and warm, the harmonies are placed with real care, and the acoustic elements feel tender and authentic. Nothing distracts from the core message of the song. This is thoughtful, refined work that shows the benefit of an artist and producer who understand each other creatively. My encouragement to other artists is simple. Pay attention to the emotional core of your song first and let your production choices serve that idea. When your intention is clear the technical decisions become much easier.
For Tia, I see strong potential for sync licensing. This track suits film and television moments that require sensitivity and emotional truth. For independent artists, these opportunities can create long term momentum and bring your music to new audiences in a meaningful way. If you are creating music with this level of sincerity, opportunities will naturally follow.
